More Treasury Fun

Etsy treasuries are quite fun to make. I enjoy searching with a simple idea of a color or object or creature and seeing where it takes me. Browsing through all the listings becomes quite a treasure hunt and often leads to rather neat surprises. Think of a topic is half the fun and gets my witty brain cells jumping around. Fun with Photoshop

New computer plus new software equals fun with Photoshop. This is my most recent creation. You will find it on the Boutique site banners. Along with experimenting with my new(ish) track pad functions, I had fun experimenting with opacity, fill, lighting effects, and other layer effects. Hopefully I can re-create the effects as needed. At least I can change the color tone and use this again.

Sweet Finds: Thread Counter

In the effort to create steampunk jewelry and wearables I have been dredging through eBay, Etsy and local stores to find optical items and oddities. So far my favorite is this delightful little brass magnifier used for counting threads. It's quite amazing and I'm not sure I can part with this particular treasure.

Steampunk and Pirates

With the lack of a Portland Pirate Festival this year I'm scouting out other festivals. I've invested too much money in the last two months to sit on my creations. Hopefully the pirate festival near Lebanon, Oregon, will be well attended. Steamcon in Seattle is also huge on my radar but it's juried so I have to work extra hard the next two weeks getting things made and photos taken so I can compile a portfolio for my application. Here are a couple things in progress I worked on while home sick yesterday.

Hanukkah!

This is my second year celebrating Hanukkah, third year attempting. Year one resulted in my homemade hanukkiyah lighting on fire on day three. We had a great Hanukkah party with delicious rugalach, sufganiyot, and sweet potato latkes and so many other delicious dishes people brought. It was a great success and great fun. and since I've been wanting to make an advent calendar for the past few years but don't really want to do the Christmas thing with it, I made Dale a sweet Hanukkah calendar. It was a lot of fun thinking of little gifts for him and fortunately my work has great hanukkiyah wrapping paper from Waste Not Paper (love 'em). Here's the end result of the calendar and the delicious gluten free rugalach from my new cookbook! A must  have for gluten free people.
