Continue with Treasury Week

Here is another treasury. I had quite a lot of fun searching for interesting products. How can you resist the tentacle wall art? The blues are just so fun too. Enjoy.

More Treasury Fun

Etsy treasuries are quite fun to make. I enjoy searching with a simple idea of a color or object or creature and seeing where it takes me. Browsing through all the listings becomes quite a treasure hunt and often leads to rather neat surprises. Think of a topic is half the fun and gets my witty brain cells jumping around. Here are two from last week: April in Paris and April Showers.

Happy Exploring,

Eyes, Legs, and Feet, Oh My!

Okay, I'm finally going to share my super treasures I got a couple weekends ago from the fabulous Daisy Drygoods . Last year I started getting interested in old dolls. Honestly, they kind of creep me out, especially the really old ones. But I bought a few dolls and might even do a few mail-order/online doll making classes. And then I found the mecca of doll parts. Glass eyes are my favorite treasure I found. There were lots of legs, ceramic and composite materials, and some arms and torsos too. There was even an awesome little kewpie doll but his sweet little arm was busted off so he didn't get to come home with me.

Here is a picture of some of my awesome goodies I got. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet. I wish I had gotten more glass eyes for Halloween.

Need some doll parts? If you can't get by Daisy Drygoods in Arcata, California, check out the following Etsy sites. But watch out, I've drooled all over listings eying all the wonderful doll parts!

Kitty Sweater Toys!

I made a few cute kitty toys awhile back but didn't have a kitty to test them on. In the past, I would have tried it out on Katina, Cerise's cat, but since Dexter, her dog, has a habit of swallowing toys, I can't give her anything that isn't bigger than she is. So when Kelly made a special order through my Etsy site for a cushion that her cats had torn up, I included the cat toy in with her order.

The toy is made of an old wool sweater cut up and sewn into a little sweater shape. It is filled with catnip and cut pieces of wool. It has now been thoroughly tested and approved by Alistair (pictured) and Emma. Look for these kitty toys available soon. Thanks for the testing, Kelly!

Love Terrarium

Looking for a gift for you Valentine this year? Check out my new heart terrariums on Etsy. Get a big one or a little one or both! They are hand crafted with wonderful glass corked heart jars layered with cork and German moss. And to make these terrariums perfect, little mushrooms "growing" out of the substrate (yes, the wonderful little vintage German mushrooms you've seen before!) Brighten up your Valentine's day or even your own little special nook with a sweet heart terrarium. Check out the new re-purposed jar terrariums too! Don't miss out, these are going to go fast!!

New Etsy Items!

While OmMama is doing well on Etsy, I've been hiding out for over a year. But I'm back with new items and a few old favorites. I will be getting more items up in the next two weeks as I get more crafting and photos done. Hope you enjoy these cute little terrarium ornaments and necklaces! I had a lot of fun making them and can't wait to make more. I will have larger terrariums and gnomes up soon as well.

Denver, dogs and dad, a baby and the mall.

I just got back from a long trip to Denver to help my Dad go from hospital, to rehab to assisted living. It was an emotional trip, and, I think, ultimately successful. I missed my two little dogs who were delighted to see me when I got back. They weigh eleven pounds together. My sister has two large dogs whose teeth are bigger than my dogs. Her dogs make quite an impact when they jump into bed with you.

I also got to meet a new niece on her first day of life and go to the swanky Park Meadows Mall. No recession there. Everyone was packed into Hollister, Abercrombie and even the Hallmark store. So here is the tie-in to all these things: Buy handmade! I brought a cool necklace from CharmStar on Etsy for my niece's birthday—she wasn't returning my gift! There are multitudes of cool handmade baby gifts and dog toys. Who needs to go to Target or Petco! I got to thinking of all kinds of handmade things I want to try, from useful things for seniors to fun dog toys. Be creative, have fun and give from the heart!

Crafter Feature: Elephant and Chickpea

I should be working on my history paper, but I just couldn't wait to post my recent favorite Etsy store find. The elegant picture of a pair of light strawberry colored Mary Jane house shoes on the front page of Etsy the other day instantly caught my attention. When I read on about the house shoes, I was happy to find that the soles are made of upcycled denim and leather and gorgeous upcyled and natural fabrics. Not only are they beautiful (and most likely practically comfortable) they are eco-friendly as well!

Elephant and Chickpea, located in Vancouver, Canada, currently have four shoe styles to choose from: Mary Janes, loafers, T-straps, and ballet flats. Stop by Elephant and Chickpea's store and blog and take a peek at the wonderful assortment of house shoes. Like me, I bet you'll find a pair to fall in love with!

Flickr

I finally got a flickr account and have uploaded a lot of plushie pics from my Etsy site. They have a very cool photo editing option that is a bit more user-friendly than Photo Shop but still time consuming when you have a lot of photos! Check out the cute plushies I have up on flickr. I will be posting some jewelry from my other site some other time.
